Where is the Love? – Horoscopes for the New Moon in Aquarius

January 24, 2022

What happened to the love and the values of humanity?
What happened to the love and the fairness and equality?
Instead of spreading love we’re spreading animosity
Lack of understanding leading us away from unity
Where’s the love?

Aquarius season song tip: Where is the Love – The Black Eyed Peas
Listen to the song here on YouTube.

Aquarius season movie tip: Hors norms (2019)
Watch the trailer of the movie here on Youtube.
(The movie itself is 1000times better than the trailer.)

It’s a new thing that I want to do… share music and movie tips that fit the astrology that I’m writing about. I won’t explain every choice of music / film, but some I will.

February and March 2022 – the Entanglement of Venus and Mars (and Ross and Rachel)

January 21, 2022

Ross and Rachel in Friends

Disclaimer: this article is interesting for those that have been through quite the love drama since autumn 2021 and / or for those that love to learn about astrology. In this article I discuss some technical aspects of astrology that will be only interesting to those that like to learn about astrology. This article may be boring for you if you’re not interested in the more technical / underlying mechanisms of astrology and if your love life is excellent. The topic of this article is the astrology and mythology of Venus and Mars, it mainly has to do with intense love, either in the more innocent form of Ross and Rachel from the television series Friends or possibly in a more toxic or dramatic shape (as the Venus and Mars of the Romans). This article is mainly relevant for February 2022 and March 2022.

Listen to the wind blow, watch the sun rise
Running in the shadows, damn your love, damn your lies

And if, you don’t love me now
You will never love me again
I can still hear you saying
You would never break the chain (Never break the chain)

Lyrics: The Chain – Fleetwood Mac

Listen to the song here on YouTube.

I feel like this Fleetwood Mac song perfectly tells the story of Venus and Mars of ancient and of recent; two lovers in a somewhat toxic relationship bound by an invisible unbreakable chain, just like the two people in The Devil tarot card (see below). The Devil in tarot is related to the sign Capricorn. And guess what… Venus and Mars are hanging out together in Capricorn in the upcoming weeks.

Practicing Hope – The mythology and astrology of Ceres in the counseling setting

January 11, 2022

I’m super excited to announce that a paper of mine is published in Archai.

Archai is an academic journal on Archetypal Cosmology. You can find more information on the journal on their website.

Introduction to the article:

Psychotherapist Jerome D. Frank developed a theory on demoralization. He proposed that demoralization is a state of mind, which can be described as severe hopelessness, that clients who seek psychotherapy and other types of counseling have in common. According to Frank, psychotherapies and counseling aim to reduce demoralization and support clients in the practice of hope. This paper proposes that mythology, can be applied in therapy, counseling and astrology supporting clients in their practice of hope. The myth of Demeter and Persephone is analyzed and given as an example for therapeutic application. The myth of Demeter and Persephone stands on its own in the therapeutic application, as well as in relationship to the asteroid Ceres in the practice of astrology.

You can purchase the journal on Amazon.

Jupiter in Pisces – an offering to love and compassion + mini horoscopes

December 28, 2021

To express my gratitude for the countless gifts we are bestowed with, I wanted to take some roses, carry them a long distance into the heart of a forest and leave the flowers with the water as a gift to the life giving forces of nature. While I was there, touching and sitting on the rocks, I thought of the people before me who had come there and perhaps taken a bath, washed their clothes or collected water for their homes. And while leaving I thought of the people who would come here next, wishing they would wonder where the flowers came from. Maybe their hearts will grow softer and they wouldn’t toss their plastic bottles and wrappers into the same water. Whenever I shoot flowers, fruits or vegetables in a landscape or in the city, I always leave them behind. I find this gesture fulfilling and spiritually satisfying, just feels natural. As the water flows, the petals will flow along and as the earth sits still, the pomegranate or an orange will thicken and sweeten, feeding many in need, I am sure.

By Imdad Barbhuyan (instagram post of December 27th 2021)

The photo and quote above just speak Jupiter in Pisces to me. Perfectly!

Jupiter is the planet of wisdom, religion, philosophy, spirituality, blessings, luck, good fortune, hope and dreams.

What is luck? What is being lucky? Is it being rich? Having money in the bank account? Or is it being wise? Being a good person? Feeling love in your heart? Having compassion…

One of the most important things I learned during my stay in Mysore, India, in December 2019, is to make offerings. No matter how poor, I saw every Indian make an offering in temples. One doesn’t dare to ask the gods and goddesses for blessings without making an offering. Western tourists would hold their hands out for blessings, but they were often unwilling to offer even one rupee.

That’s not how Jupiter works… Jupiter in Pisces teaches us that real fortune, richness and love is found in making offerings and in having compassion.

Jupiter in Pisces wants us to offer flower petals to the rivers.

Horoscopes for Venus in Capricorn, specifically Venus Retrograde

December 12, 2021

These horoscopes are written for Venus in Capricorn (early November 2021 – early March 2022), specifically Venus retrograde (mid-December – late January).

Read for your Rising Sign first and Sun Sign second.

If you don’t know your rising sign, follow the instructions on this page to figure it out or book consultation with me.

These horoscopes are written for your rising sign (ascendant). I advice you to read the horoscope for your rising sign. You may also read the horoscope for your Sun sign for extra inspiration. These horoscopes are meant to offer you support and inspiration. You can leave the things that don’t resonate with you.

For more information on what Venus retrograde may be about for you, and for general information on Venus retrograde, read my musings on Venus retrograde in Capricorn. In this article I also explain the mythology of Inanna (in some of the horoscopes I refer to the mythology…).

The horoscopes are listed from Aries to Pisces.

Musings on Venus retrograde in Capricorn (and the mythology of Inanna)

December 12, 2021

(Photographer unknown. Please let me know if you know who took this picture.)

“When Venus retrogrades we get to work with all that is in opposition to it. One of Venus’s many retrograde lessons is that the abuse of all things Venus is old and deep. Wide and ready to be acknowledged. This goddess is hungry for justice too long withheld from her.” Words by Chani Nicholas.

Venus is retrograde, for a period of about 6 weeks, every 18 months. When a planet is direct, it moves forward (from our viewpoint here on Earth). When a planet is retrograde, it moves backward (from our viewpoint here on Earth). Retrogrades are an optical illusion, just as the speed of a planet. Planets actually don’t change direction. But from our viewpoint here on Earth it sometimes seems like they do. The apparent direction and speed of a planet, as we perceive it, is dependent on the planet’s relative position to the Sun.

Horoscopes for New Moon / Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius on Dec 4th (end November – end December)

November 28, 2021

The Nine of Wands card from the Serpentfire tarot deck; the Nine of Wands is related to the second decan of Sagittarius, the decan of this New Moon

Tap Into Your Courage

The New Moon arrives on December 4th 8.43 am CET. This New Moon is a Solar Eclipse, which means that the Sun, Moon and Earth are lined up in such a way that the Moon blocks the Sun’s light from reaching the Earth. This is the last eclipse of a series of eclipses that took place on the Gemini – Sagittarius axis. This means that we’re closing a chapter in the part of our natal chart that contains the Gemini – Sagittarius axis. Something is coming to fulfilment and completion, or maybe simply to an ending. Given that this eclipse is a New Moon, there’s also a brand new start to be made.

Given that the New Moon is at 12 degrees Sagittarius and Mercury is at 15 degrees Sagittarius, there’s quite a statement to be made. Especially if you have the ascendant, midheaven, Sun, Moon or a personal planet in between 11-16 degrees of any of the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces).

This New Moon is ruled by Jupiter. Jupiter at 25 degrees of Aquarius receives an intense square from and is overcome by Mars at 23 degrees Scorpio. This suggests to me that Jupiter’s general optimism is challenged by the defensive attitude of Mars in Scorpio. Mars in Scorpio is that Scorpion ready to attack (but only does so if it feels it’s necessary; and necessary doesn’t always mean justifiable, and what is necessary in the eyes of one isn’t always so in the eyes of another). Mars in Scorpio is boiling water. Mars in Scorpio is that CIA agent interrogating. Mars in Scorpio is just fucking intense and not so nice at all. Jupiter naturally is optimistic, and the Sagittarius signature is philosophical and adventurous. Jupiter is focused on bringing about good stuff. Jupiter brings connection, while Mars brings separation. You can see the friction between the two.

Mars leaves a mark on this New Moon. In your chart, this New Moon takes place in the house that contains Sagittarius. But the houses that contain Aquarius and Scorpio may feel very present too, because that’s where Jupiter and Mars are at the moment. If you have your own natal chart, and know which houses contain these signs, you can ask yourself how the houses are connected at this moment.

Mars and Jupiter do have certain things in common. Both are masculine / yang. Both Mars / Scorpio can be very defensive of themselves. Jupiter / Sagittarius ‘is always right’ or ‘knows it better’. For some this New Moon may be about stating your truth. About standing up for yourself / others / something that matters. Scorpio can sometimes hold on for too long. Sagittarius can sometimes become dogmatic. For some this New Moon may come with the lesson of finding balance between not giving your truth away too easily and not holding on for too long; the balance between daring to enter an argument in order to stand up for your opinion and not being able to leave the argument because you can’t give up on trying to convince someone who will not be convinced.

Both Mars and Jupiter are courageous in their own way. Both have strong desires! They just go after their desires in different ways. Desire may run high with this New Moon. You may feel a strong urge to go after what you want. I can’t advice you to go for it, I also can’t advice against it. I can’t predict that you will get what you want. However, an archer that doesn’t shoot, will never hit the mark anyways. It’s not in Sagittarius’ nature to sit still. This archer needs to aim at something and go after it. Maybe it’s just simply about ordering pizza for you and honouring your desire for carbs. Maybe it’s about doing the fucking scary thing of declaring your love to someone. Maybe it’s about doing the fucking scary thing of ending a relationship and honouring your desire to be single.

The New Moon takes place in the second decan of Sagittarius. This decan is related to the Nine of Wands card in Tarot. The Nine of Wands is also known as ‘the Lord of Strength’. As Susan Chang writes about the Nine of Wands in her book ’36 secrets: A Decanic Journey through the Minor Arcana of the Tarot’ (page 186): “Here we find previously untapped resources within ourselves to do the One Brave Thing.” This card speaks about going on in the face of adversity, continuing through challenges and about tapping into personal power, strength and courage.

Horoscopes for the Full Moon in Taurus (November 19th)

November 17, 2021

Dolce far niente, 1897 ~ John William Godward

Finally, I’m back to writing again. Moving houses, eye surgery, dealing with inheritances and making time for selfcare, took way more weeks than expected. I was also lacking creativity. Good news: the creative juices are flowing again! Smoothies, yoga, running, a beautiful new apartment and reading novels helps with that. I’m not promising biweekly articles again, but you can expect to find new musings on this website on a more regular basis.

Thanks for sticking with me. Love you so much.

Maud

These horoscopes are written for your rising sign (ascendant), so I advice you to read the horoscope for you rising sign first.  You can read the horoscope for your Sun sign for extra inspiration if you want.

These horoscopes are written for the Full Moon in Taurus on November 19th 09.59 am CET. These horoscopes take into account the new series of eclipses that takes place over the next 2 years. This Full Moon is a Lunar eclipse and marks the first of a series of eclipses in the Taurus – Scorpio axis that lasts until October 2023. The Lunar Nodes, now still in Gemini and Sagittarius, will change signs in January and enter Taurus and Scorpio. Eclipses take place when there is a Full Moon or New Moon near one of the Lunar Nodes. This Full Moon in Taurus takes place near the North Node that is still in Gemini. Eclipses mark (great) beginnings and endings in the signs and houses of your natal chart that they fall in. In other words, we can expect to see these beginnings and endings in the houses that Taurus and Scorpio are on in our natal charts.
