Sweethearts! Finally the horoscopes for the mutable rising signs are here! Sorry that I’ve kept you waiting for so long. When Mercury stationed direct I finally got some flow in my writing again. Though I’ve also been distracted by hair issues which caused some delays. This lady is going blonde again, which is easier said than done; but I miss my natural colour. When I was younger I used to dye my hair regularly. In the past eight years or so I haven’t. I just kept my natural blonde colour and loved it. But then this April Uranus touched my ascendant while Venus just entered her pre retrograde shadow period and I decided to throw some red dye in my hair. An act of rebellion and empowerment. At that moment I already knew I would regret it. And I do regret now. On the other hand. I want to live an exciting life and thus I rather make mistakes and fail than live a safe and boring life. Ah well I’m talking about hair here, it’s a first world problem! And things change anyway. So will my hair. One day it will be grey. And I will love it. All things change. Which you mutable signs know all too well. Everything in life changes. Nothing stays the same. And life becomes a lot easier when we can go with that flow. The art of letting go, while at the same time daring to ride the waves. The mutable signs have a gift for flexibility that I find inspiring. Of course it depends a lot on other placements in your personal chart whether you identify with that flexibility. But there is a part of you that definitely seeks or brings changes in life. Dear mutable rising signs, here are your horoscopes for the second half of 2020. (The horoscopes for the other signs can be found in the previous two articles.)
These horoscopes are written for your rising sign. They are not written for your Sun sign. The rising sign is the sign where your ascendant is placed in. To figure out what your rising sign is, you’ll need to know your place, date and exact(!) time of birth. If you don’t know your time of birth, unfortunately you can’t know your rising sign.
To figure out what your rising sign is you go to astro.com. Then go to free horoscopes and to extended chart selection or natal chart / ascendant. Fill in your data. Under extended chart selection: go to options for zodiac houses and under house system choose ‘whole signs’. Then click on ‘show the chart’. Your rising sign (also called ascendant) is the sign that is on the first house. It is denoted as AC. You also see it written in the red lettering under your Sun sign under your personal info.
I wanted to write horoscopes for the second half of 2020. However, for the fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius) a lot of the more important transits are happening over a few years, instead over the next couple of months. For the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces) the most notable transits in the second half of 2020 are in fact short transits that happen in the next few months. For the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) the most impactful transits have been happening for a while, but this will change at the end of this year. So I’ve only incorporated a few transits and definitely not all in these horoscopes. I also can’t take into account your personal natal placements. These horoscopes are very very general. For a better assessment you would need to book a reading.
Last note: I know that some readers like to know how I delineate certain things. I explicitly name the different transits in the horoscopes, so those of you who like to learn more about astrology can get some insight in ‘how to write horoscopes’.
The astrology of 2020 is crap. Don’t expect rainbows and pots of gold. These horoscopes are kind of depressing… With silver linings. We do it for the silver linings! Ok here we go. Below are the horoscopes for the mutable signs.
Gemini rising
Dear Gemini,
Mercury just stationed direct on July 12th,, after his second retrograde period of this year. Since Mercury is your ascendant’s ruler, his retrograde periods are often impactful on you. Mercury is in Cancer at the moment, under the ruling of the Moon. The Moon changes constantly, waxing and waning, and moving through all the signs of the zodiac absorbing different feelings and thoughts. This must have had an effect on you; like you went through your own ups and downs. The Moon relates to the body. I hope you have been able to attend to your bodily needs in the past few weeks. Otherwise I hope you’ll be able to, in the next few weeks, while Mercury is in Cancer. Practices like slow yoga and dance are extra nurturing right now. In the past few weeks there have been eclipses conjunct Mercury and opposite Mercury. This must have added to the emotional rollercoaster (especially if you also have planets in Capricorn or Cancer). You might have had some issues with self-worth, sadness, anxiety, grief or worry in the past few weeks. Feelings of relief will come to you in the next few weeks, while Mercury moves out of his shadow period and later moves on into Leo.
Mercury stations retrograde three times a year. He was retrograde in February, he just was retrograde and he will station retrograde again this fall. Mercury will station retrograde on October 13th in Scorpio. He will enter back into Libra on October 27th. He will station direct on November 3rd and he will move back into Scorpio again on November 10th. This Mercury retrograde will be happening in your 6th and 5th house, which means it can highlight topics that have to do with health, work, children, romance and creativity. This Mercury retrograde can bring op a mixed bag of topics. The transit of Mercury in Scorpio will intensify your emotional life. Also because Mars, the ruler of Scorpio, is in Aries at that moment: giving power to Scorpio and intensifying and possibly troubling this retrograde. The transit of Mercury in Libra will probably be less intense, at least emotionally. On the day Mercury moves back into Libra, Venus (the ruler of Libra) also moves into Libra. In other words, the Goddess of Love will be there to help Mercury out. They will both be squared by Mars though, so challenge and frustration might still come up. But, again, the presence of Venus will be helpful. For example: the combination of Mercury retrograde in the 5th house plus the square by Mars might create issues in a creative project or arguments with children (if you have children). But with Venus her help those issues will be overcome, by connection, love and creative endeavors.
Speaking of Venus, she’s currently in your 1st house. In May and June Venus was retrograde; during this period you may have struggled with lack of confidence. That coupled with Mercury retrograde would have made June quite challenging for some. But with Mercury direct and Venus direct, things will go better. Especially when the planets move on into the next signs. Venus stays in your 1st house till the 7th of August. And you may notice that your confidence levels are climbing already. Venus in the 1st house is usually actually really nice. She can bring confidence and attraction. In case you are single and ready to mingle: go out! This transit is helpful for attracting people. To empower yourself you could do Venusian stuff, especially rituals that nurture the body. Think long baths, massages, eating good food and such things. This will strengthen Venus and she will strengthen your confidence and overall experience of joy.
At the end of the year, on December 15th, Venus will enter the opposite part of your chart: the 7th house. This is a really nice transit. While Venus is in your 7th house she supports your connections with others. Especially in committed partnerships; a romantic relationship, deep friendships and business partnerships. In case you are in a committed relationship, I suggest you carve out time in your calendar to bond with your partner. Go on dates together, spend some extra time in the bedroom, make the time for good talks. In case you are single: Venus in the 7th house heightens your chances of meeting a potential partner. You will need to go out and about for that though; they won’t come knocking on your door randomly. So, Gemini, you have something to look forward to at the end of the year.
The end of the year will also bring some intense stuff though. In the end of November there will be a Lunar eclipse in Gemini and your 1st house. Mid December there will be a Solar eclipse in Sagittarius and your 7th house. The eclipses in 2021 will also happen in these parts of your chart. For you the eclipses will bring fated events related to 1st and 7th house topics. Which can be small and/or big events depending on the degree of your ascendant and depending on other placements in your chart. In general and for all Gemini rising it means these eclipses will bring processes of reflection on how you want to approach the world, how you want to assert yourself, how you connect with others and how others connect with you. Your self-image and your relationships are up for reflection, intense changes and in the end personal growth.
Another noteworthy transit for you is that Mercury will be moving through Virgo and your 4th house from August 20th till September 5th. Mercury is at home in Virgo, the other sign besides Gemini that this planet rulers. During this time you will probably be active in your domestic life (cleaning things up around the house, doing some work on the house) and/or spend extra time connecting with your family and/or roommates. It will feel good to have Mercury in Virgo. Mercury feels strong and at home in Virgo and this will also reflect on you.
Throughout the rest of 2020 Mars is in Aries and in your 11th house of community and friends. Mars brings passion, energy, activity and motivation. You can direct this at community work, working with groups of people and going out into the world to do fun and active stuff with friends. Help your friends out by motivating them and sharing your energy; only if you have the energy to share. Mars, however, can also bring friction, frustration, conflict and anger. While Mars is in your 11th house he can bring conflict or separation in your community or between you and friends. It may also be that you find that you are frustrated with or maybe even angry at friends or people in your communities. Conflict isn’t always a bad thing. Sometimes it can clear up some air. Sometimes we hold frustrations in too long; until Mars brings them out. Sometimes we need to express anger at the person it concerns. Sometimes it’s better to express that anger at something else, to redirect it. Sometimes Mars brings irrational and unjust conflict; sometimes he brings out the worst in us. Sometimes Mars is of help, sometimes we need that push to finally stand up for ourselves. With this transit both can happen. I would advice you will count to ten before expressing anger in case anger does arise, and make a rational decision whether you want to direct it at a specific person or something else (but don’t keep it in).
Mars is retrograde from September 9th till mid November. If there are any issues that develop before he stations retrograde, they will probably resurface during the retrograde period. While Mars is retrograde in your 11th house you will find that connections in your communities and with friends just won’t go as smoothly as you would like. In general there will be a slowness and maybe lack of passion or spark. Things might get dull or there will be friction. This won’t effect all friendships and all connections, don’t worry. But I suspect and overall lack of ‘energy flow’ between you and your friends will be present. The energy will flow back in no time when Mars stations direct again.
Dear Gemini, I wish you many blessings to come. In the rest of 2020 and following years.
Virgo rising
Dear Virgo,
Mercury just stationed direct on July 12th,, after his second retrograde period of this year.
This Mercury retrograde will be happening in your 2nd and 3rd house, which means it can highlight topics that have to do with communication, daily rituals, short travels, money, possessions, and self-worth. For example: the combination of Mercury retrograde in the 2nd plus the square by Mars might create issues regarding the 2nd house topic of money (your salary is delayed) while your self-confidence gets a boost.
Another noteworthy transit for you is that Mercury will be moving through Virgo and your 1th house from August 20th till September 5th. To have your ruler at home in your 1st house feels nice! It’s a good time for self-expression; going out and about, (re)connecting with people, teaching and writing. Part of this transit overlaps with the transit of the Sun in Virgo from August 22nd till September 22nd. The Sun will light up your first house. This also is positive and boosts that self-expression. It’s a great time for you to be out in the world and to be seen. Virgo isn’t always that visible and depending on your natal placements you might be more or less extravert and/or expressive. However, in these weeks you will benefit from self-expression and being visible and shining I the world.
In October there’s another nice transit in your 1st house. Venus will be moving through Virgo from October 2nd till October 27th. She will bring you attraction and magnetism. This transit boosts confidence and is great for attracting positive connections in your life. In case you are single: the magnetism is definitely supportive in dating. These weeks are also good for selfcare. Invest in nourishing, beautiful and healthy meals. Make time for Venusian rituals, like taking long baths.
Throughout the rest of 2020 Mars moves through your 8th house. Which for most of you won’t be that noticeable. Sometimes this transit causes issues in collaborations, especially when there is a sharing of resources (for example in marriage) or a sharing of talents and capabilities (for example a project). A conflict might arise between you and the other person.
Throughout most of 2020 Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto are in Capricorn. At the end of the year both Jupiter and Saturn will move on into Aquarius. While they are in Capricorn there are in your 5th house of children, creativity and romance. Especially Saturn’s presence is noticeable. He is here retrograde to revisit something that you have been dealing with since 2017/2018 regarding children, creativity and/or romance. Some last responsibility to take care off or some last lesson to learn regarding these 5th house topics.
At the end of the year there will be an eclipse season. In the end of November there will be a Lunar eclipse in Gemini and your 10th house. Mid December there will be a Solar eclipse in Sagittarius and your 4th house. The eclipses in 2021 will also happen in these parts of your chart. For you the eclipses will bring fated events related to 4st and 10th house topics. Which can be small and/or big events depending on the degree of your ascendant and depending on other placements in your chart. In general and for all Virgo rising it means these eclipses will bring processes of reflection on how you want make yourself visible in the world versus how you give space to your most inner self and where you retreat. These eclipses may make you reflect on your roots, ancestry and places of belonging. The eclipses might trigger changes when it comes to your domestic life and/or career. The events they trigger can often be intense and not always easy. They can however push us forward in life, creating amazing growth and potential. Dear Virgo, I wish you many blessings to come.
Sagittarius rising
Dear Sagittarius,
You are the adventurer and philosopher of the zodiac. Sagittarius is known to be optimistic and hopeful. We need that energy in 2020… Your ascendant’s ruler Jupiter is in Capricorn. Jupiter entered Capricorn at the end of 2019 and stays here till the end of 2020. The abundantly adventurous sage doesn’t do that well in the restricted cold surroundings of Capricorn. I can imagine 2020 lacks a certain juice for you. It probably does for everyone, but for you even more. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing though.
Jupiter is in your 2nd house of money, possessions and self-worth. Throughout 2020 Jupiter puts in his effort to bring you blessings in this area of life, but it doesn’t come easy to him. Whether he succeeds depends also on placements in your personal birth chart. Throughout 2019 Jupiter was at home in Sagittarius; it’s quite possible that 2019 was a year for you with blessings, adventure and plenty of new experiences and personal growth. That vibe has shifted. It’s not just a pandemic that makes life more restricted, in your case it’s actually your ruler feeling captive. It isn’t necessarily a bad thing. This may give you plenty of time and space to retreat on your own. To go wander in your mind and soul instead of out in the world. Less distraction and less adventures are good for soul searching. This less exciting time can bring you blessings when it comes to your possessions and especially self-worth and may bring insights into what you value in life. What is of meaning in your life? What enhances your self-worth? What enhances richness in your life? Do you live by your values? Maybe you come to the realization that things in life need to change; more time for family, more time for spiritual practices, changing political views, changing your spending habits. Maybe you start to value yourself differently; maybe you were used to put up with things you don’t want to put up with anymore. Through pause and meditation we come to insights. For you 2020 is a good year to reflect on what your value in life, regarding both physical resources and spiritual values. The more clear you can get on what you value, the better Jupiter will be able to bring you blessings regarding those physical resources and values. Don’t think out of greed or lack though, reflect on these topics with an open and honest mind.
Throughout the second half of 2020 Mars is in your 5th house of creativity, children, sex and romance. The 5th house is a house of pleasure. To have Mars here can make one more focused on their own pleasure and needs. It can bring the motivation and passion to go after the things you want. It can also bring motivation and passion in your creative projects. Mars transits in general can also bring difficulty. When Mars moves through the 5th house it can make one a little bit more focused on oneself and less on the needs of the other. This isn’t always a bad thing; so often we hold ourselves back, so often we are too scared to chase the things we desire. Mars can bring us courage. In case you are a parent; Mars may bring some conflict between you and your children. Mars stations retrograde on the 9th of September and stays retrograde still mid November. During these weeks you might experience the opposite of the above: less passion, les sex drive, less energy for your creative pursuits. This will be temporary; when Mars stations direct mid November the energy will flow back in no time.
Venus is currently in your 7th house of committed partnerships (romantic partnerships, business partnerships and intimate friendships). Venus has been here since spring this year. In May and June she was retrograde. In general Venus transits in the 7th house bring blessings when it comes to committed partnerships. However, while she was retrograde you might have experienced the opposite. In Spring and early Summer you have probably done some reflecting on your committed partnerships (romantic/business/platonic), or one committed partnership in particular. There might have been some kind of issue that forced you to reflect on your personal needs and desires in this relationship.
At the end of the year, on December 15th, Venus will enter the opposite part of your chart: your 1st house of body and self. This is a lovely transit. Not only will Venus bring you a sense of confidence, she will bring you magnetism and attraction. During the holiday season you will definitely have a glow about you. In case you are single and ready to date or just want to have some fun: this is really helpful. You will have some attraction going on. Also, apart from dating and romance; people will just enjoy spending time with you. It’s a also a great time for selfcare. Long baths, massages, manicures, masturbation, it’s all supportive of the transit of Venus in the 1st house. These kinds of practices will support the Goddess of Love and bring you more attraction. Dress up in your favorite clothing and go party dear Sagittarius!
Apart from the holidays, the end of the year might also come with some intense events, insights or changes. In November there will be a Lunar eclipse in Gemini and your 7th house. In December there will be a Solar eclipse in Sagittarius and your 1st house. These eclipses will certainly trigger some soul searching when it comes to how you see yourself and how you express yourself in the world and/versus how you relate to others. Eclipses can trigger life changing events. To have eclipses happen in your 1st house and the house opposite of it, is quite important. The eclipses will be more or less intense depending on whether they happen within a few degrees of your ascendant and descendant and/or personal planets. The closer an eclipse is to a significant point on your chart, the more impactful. In 2021 there will be several more eclipses that will also take place in these parts of your chart. The topic of self and identity versus others will be important in the next year and a half. Good chance there will develop important changes when it comes to your committed partnerships; either in love, business or friendships. Dear Sagittarius, the end of the year will probably be an interesting and maybe challenging time, but with amazing potential for growth, love and new possibilities. Keep your heart and mind open.
Pisces rising
Dear Pisces,
Your ascendant’s ruler Jupiter is currently retrograde in Capricorn and your 11th house. The abundant hopeful sage doesn’t do that well in the restricted cold surroundings of Capricorn. I can imagine 2020 lacks a certain juice for you. (It probably does for most people, anyway.) Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing though.
Jupiter will station direct on September 13th. While Jupiter is retrograde you are probably revisiting topics that have to do with the communities you are part of or your friendships. It’s a good time to reflect on your relationships and especially friendships. The 11th house also contains hopes, dreams and wishes for the future. It’s a good time to reflect on your hopes for the future. Where are you now and where are you heading? After Jupiter stations direct again in September you will find that you have new energy to work towards that future that you have envisioned for yourself. You will also find that the connections in the communities you are part of and/or your friendships will start to ask for more attention. At the end of the year, in December, Jupiter will move on into Aquarius and your 12th house; where he will become supportive of spiritual practices and growth.
Saturn is also in Capricorn and in your 11th house and just like Jupiter he will stay here till the end of 2020, when he also moves on into Aquarius. In the last few years your friendships have undergone some changes. You have probably needed to learn to set boundaries in your friendships, or needed to meet the demands of certain friends. It’s also highly possible you have learned to either set boundaries or meet the demands of co-workers.
Mars is currently in Aries and in your 2nd house and he will stay here throughout 2020. The transit of Mars in Aries won’t be as intense for you as it is for some other signs. Mars might give you some passion, energy or the desire to assert yourself. He might create some conflict over possessions, give you a feeling of lack of money/possessions or lack of self-worth, or cause you to lose something you possess. But overall this transit won’t be that impactful for most Pisces rising. (How the transit impacts you also very much depends on personal placements in your birth chart.)
Venus will be in Virgo and in your 7th house from October 2nd till October 27th. That’s a really nice transit for you! During these weeks you will find that you easily connect with others. This will be beneficial in case you have to work with other people and it will be beneficial for your close friendships too. In case you are in a romantic relationship you will find that being intimate, both physical and emotional, is just extra pleasurable in these weeks. So, carve out time to go on dates together! In case you are single there’s an extra chance for meeting a potential partner. So, go out and about! Prince/princess charming won’t come knocking at your door. Out in the world the universe might put in a little extra effort to bring that prince or princess charming to you: keep your eyes open.
At the end of November there is a Lunar eclipse in Gemini and in your 4th house. In December there is a Solar eclipse in Sagittarius in your 10th house. The eclipses in 2021 will also happen in these parts of your chart. For you the eclipses will bring fated events related to 4st and 10th house topics. Which can be small and/or big events depending on the degree of your ascendant and depending on other placements in your chart. In general and for all Pisces rising it means that these eclipses will bring processes of reflection on how you want make yourself visible in the world versus how you give space to your most inner self and where you retreat. These eclipses may make you reflect on your roots, ancestry and places of belonging. The eclipses might trigger changes when it comes to your domestic life and/or career. The events they trigger can often be intense and not always easy. They can however push us forward in life, creating amazing growth and potential. Dear Pisces, the end of the year will mark the beginning of phase of potentially amazing growth. I wish you many blessings.
