Full Moon in Virgo conjunct Vesta – attending to the sacred fire

February 24, 2021

Priestess of Vesta by Frederic Leighton

The Moon becomes full when she’s opposite of the Sun. It’s Pisces season, which means that the Full Moon takes place in Virgo (the sign opposite of Pisces). Pisces is the mutable water sign that’s ruled by Jupiter. During Pisces season, the Sun illuminates the parts of our charts that contain Pisces. Pisces naturally swims into the depths of the ocean. This sign is intuitive. This sign feeeels. This sign has a longing; a longing to merge with the water, with the creatures of the ocean, with the corals, with the sand.

Pisces wants to merge with the divine and wants to transcend the mundane. Pisces transcends by merging with the Other. The Other may be a deity. The Other may also be nature. The Other may be found in a person, maybe via sex. The Other may also be found with support of a substance like alcohol or LSD. Pisces often seeks intoxication, either by love or drugs, or both. Pisces has a deep need to become One. The two fishes want to become one. The two fishes are in fact one. Together they are one sign. The fishes are just not aware of it.

New Moon in Aquarius – The Water Bearer Archetype, Guardian of Human Freedom and Democracy

February 9, 2021

‘Stars’ by Maxfield Parrish (1926)

May I ask you to sign this petition to free Nodeep Kaur, before you start reading the article below? Nodeep Kaur is a young woman who supports the farmers protests in India. She’s wrongfully arrested in January by the police, she’s not released on bail and she continuously is sexually assaulted by the police. If you practice yoga, if you eat rice and lentils, if you wear clothing ‘made in India’, if you use shampoo and soap that smell like sandalwood, if you burn patchouli incense, if you’ve ever been to India… sign the damn petition! Farmers are exploited in India. Not just by the Indian government. Western customers (you and me) also exploit the Indian farmers. We gladly use everything beautiful and good that India has to offer us. We are silent when Indian farmers suffer. Did you know that the percentage of suicides is highest under Indian farmers compared to any other group? And now a young brave woman from a certain ‘caste’ is captivated and assaulted by the Indian government. Which is just another symptom of the position of women in patriarchal societies. Which is also just another attempt at keeping elite powerful groups in power and oppressing ‘lower casts’. It amazes me that so many people are vocal about the BLM movement, but keep silent about this. I guess people don’t feel the social pressure. I know that many of my readers consider themselves to be yogis, some of them travel to India almost every year. If you love to eat rice, please support the farmers that produce the rice you eat. If you care about women’s rights and about farmers, please support the young brave woman that stands up for those farmers while you are eating you rice while chilling in yoga pants. Staying silent is a sign of privilege. The least you can do is sign this petition. Google more petitions. Share information on the farmers protest on your social media accounts. Other countries should be vocal of what’s happening in India, international pressure needs to be applied.

Okay, the rant of this Aquarian Moon woman is over… Thank you for reading. Below follows the article on the New Moon.

Full Moon in Leo

January 26, 2021

Photo found via Pinterest

The Full Moon arrives at 9 degrees Leo on January 28th 2.16 pm ET / 8.16 pm CET. The Moon shines glorious in the sign of Leo, as she reflects the light of the Sun, the ruler of Leo, who will be conjunct the greater benefic Jupiter.

The Full Moon in Leo shines opposite of a gathering of planets in Aquarius (the Sun, Saturn, Jupiter and Mercury). The Moon is the body that moves through the twelve zodiacal signs in just 28 days. We tap into the Moon in our chart when we cope with daily life, when we emote and regulate. The Moon, in mundane astrology, helps to regulate the different planetary ‘influences’. As she circles around the Earth, she’s our satellite, antenna and buffer. She’s the Mother that protects us, cares for us closely. As a bunch of planets have gathered in Aquarius (and Venus will enter Aquarius soon too), this Full Moon in Leo reflects what Aquarius season is and will be about. Mercury will station retrograde, two days after the Full Moon, and travel backwards through the sign Aquarius. Venus will enter Aquarius soon, and by then all personal planets (except Mars) will be gathered in Aquarius. There will be a big emphasis on the parts of our charts that contain Aquarius, from the end of January until mid February. This emphasis has been building up since mid December. The Full Moon in Leo reflects the opening scene of the play that is about to unfold.

New Moon in Capricorn – The Future is Female

January 10, 2021

Samantha in Sex and the City

Samantha is a Capricorn boss lady. Demanding, stubborn, self-sufficient and always right. She leads and doesn’t follow, except maybe in the bedroom. The archetype Capricorn is often described as hard working, disciplined, boring, in love with money, strict, practical and mature. However, once you get to know a Capricorn, you’ll discover that this archetype is actually not boring at all. Capricorns (Sun, Moon and rising) tend to have a good / dark sense of humor. Capricorns aren’t afraid of the occult and the dark, and they know all about power. Capricorns actually are very intuitive, as an earth sign this archetype is grounded but the tail of the sea-goat dips into intuitive waters. Ruled by Saturn this archetype is knowledgeable on life. At best, Capricorn expresses itself as knowledgable on life and dedicated to create societal structures that serve humanity. At worst this archetype expresses itself as supportive of patriarchy and capitalism.

Full Moon in Cancer – and an elaborate forecast for the start of 2021

December 27, 2020

Art: Selene by Albert Aublet (1880)

The Full Moon in Cancer arrives on December 29th 10.28 pm ET / December 30th 4.28 am CET. The Full Moon will be at 8 degrees Cancer.

This is the first time in three years that the Full Moon in Cancer isn’t opposed by Saturn. Saturn entered Capricorn in December 2017. Saturn left Capricorn and moved into Aquarius earlier this month. Thus, this is the first Full Moon in Cancer in three years that isn’t opposed by Saturn. Which is really nice! Also; eclipse season is finished and this is the first Full Moon in a while that isn’t shadowed. Which is really nice too!

The Great Conjunction – Jupiter and Saturn in Aquarius

December 15, 2020

Kepler’s Trigon. A diagram of Great Conjunctions from Johannes Kepler’s 1606 book ‘De Stella Nova’.

On December 21st, on the Winter Solstice (the day the Sun moves into Capricorn), there’s a Great Conjunction. A Great Conjunction takes place when Jupiter and Saturn meet each other. Seen from our viewpoint here on Earth, these two planets will align perfectly on December 21st 2020 1.20 pm ET / 7.20 pm CET.

New Moon in Sagittarius – Total Solar Eclipse

December 12, 2020

Art by Devany Amber Wolfe

The upcoming week is packed with a lot of major astrological events. The New Moon arrives on December 14th 11.16 am ET / 5.16 pm CET at 23 degrees Sagittarius. This New Moon is a Total Solar eclipse. This is a big event. A few days later, two slow moving planets, Saturn and Jupiter, will change signs. Saturn has been in Capricorn for three years. Jupiter has been in Capricorn for one year. So, these are not daily and these are unique transits. On top of that, these two planets will form a conjunction. They form a conjunction every twenty years, so that’s quite rare. On top of that, they will now start to form conjunctions in air signs, while in the past 200 years the conjunctions took place in earth signs. In other words, we will enter a new 200 year chapter. This conjunction takes place on the day of the Winter Solstice, when the Sun enters Capricorn. This week is packed with major shifts! A Solar eclipse, the Winter Solstice and a Great Conjunction. The year is going out with a bang!

Full Moon in Gemini – Penumbral Lunar eclipse

November 28, 2020

‘Lovers’ by Remedios Varo, inspired by Tarot. The Lovers card in Tarot is related to the sign Gemini.

This Full Moon is an eclipse. The Penumbral Lunar Eclipse arrives on November 30th 4.30 am ET / 10.30 am CET at 8 degrees Gemini.

Whenever a Full Moon or a New Moon takes place in close enough proximity to the nodes of the Moon, an eclipse takes place. The North Node is at 19 degrees Gemini and the South Node is at 19 degrees Sagittarius. The nodes are squared by Neptune at 18 degrees Pisces. Neptune stations direct a little more than a day before the Full Moon arrives. Neptune tends to place a surreal fog over the things he touches, and his touch is extra intense at the moment since he just stationed direct. Neptune tends to decrease our ability for clear thinking and increases our thirst for ecstasy. For example; when Neptune touches Venus one may actually get blinded by love. Neptune grows our lust and decreases our IQ points. That’s not the say that Neptune can’t bring good stuff. Sometimes we need to shut down our mind in order to enter astral planes.
