Musings and Horoscopes for the Solar Eclipse in Taurus

April 25, 2022

(Photographer unkown.)

The New Moon / Solar Eclipse arrives on April 30th 2022 at 10.28 pm CET / 4.28 pm ET at 10 degrees Taurus.

For this particular eclipse I’ve chosen the song Superpower by Dutch singer songwriter Kris Berry. I think Superpower beautifully captures the magic of the current astrology.

Listen to Superpower by Kris Berry on YouTube.

Turn your sorrow into treasured gold – additional article on the eclipse series in Taurus and Scorpio

April 25, 2022

Medusa – artist unknown

I want to share the horoscopes for the previous eclipse in Taurus again. These horoscopes are still valid! They were written for the beginning of a chapter that is still unfolding… The previous eclipse in Taurus was a Full Moon / Lunar Eclipse and it occurred on November 19th 2021. It marked the beginning of a series of eclipses that occurs on the Taurus – Scorpio axis. Eclipses occur in the signs where the lunar nodes reside, and the lunar nodes take about 1,5 years to travel through the signs. That gives us a series of eclipses that is spread out over about 1,5 up to sometimes 2 years. The north node is now in Taurus, the south node is in Scorpio. Eclipses bring beginnings and endings in the parts of our chart where the eclipses occur. Sometimes these beginnings and endings are quite major; depending on whether they align with personal placements in the birth chart. Look at the Taurus – Scorpio axis in your chart, to get an idea what this chapter of eclipses may be about for you.

Unfold, in a generous way – Musings on Venus in Pisces

April 5, 2022

The Birth of Venus by Odilon Rendon (1912)

It’s warmer now
Lean into it
Unfold
In a generous way
Surrender, It’s not meant to be a strife
It’s not meant to be a struggle uphill

Undo, undo
It’s not meant to be a strife
It’s not meant to be a struggle uphill
I’m praying
To be
In a generous mode
The kindness kind
To share me

Listen to Undo by Björk on YouTube.

Venus is in Pisces from April 5th to May 2nd 2022. I very much welcome Venus in Pisces. Venus hasn’t been in the best position since November 2021; traveling through the Saturn ruled signs Capricorn and Aquarius, going through the underworld (a retrograde period and conjunctions with Pluto), going through a struggle with Mars and finally besiegement. Venus will enter calmer waters now. In this article I’ll explore this Venus transit. But first I’ll share some of the mythology behind the constellation Pisces and about Venus in Pisces in general (much may resonate with people who were born with Venus / Moon / Sun / ascendant in Pisces). Then I will go into the Venus in Pisces transit that lasts from April 5th to May 2nd this year. Lastly I’ll share my reasons for the song choice for this article.

Ready or Not, Here I come – Musings on the New Moon in Aries (April 1st)

March 27, 2022

When there’s a New Moon in Aries under the ruling of Mars conjunct Saturn in Aquarius, this is no doubt the song: Ready or Not by the Fugees (listen on YouTube).

This song is so much about making a statement. A statement to the world. Ready or not, here I come. It doesn’t matter if I’m ready, it doesn’t matter if the world is ready for me, here I come anyway. This song is very much about saying that you’re a formidable opponent. You may not be perceived that way by the world, you may be underestimated, but… “here I am!”

Love stories: Radhamadhavam vs. The Pleasure and The Pain – Musings on the Full Moon in Virgo

March 14, 2022

Radhamadhavam: Radha and Lord Madhav (Krishna) painted by Ravi Varma

If you want to listen to a song about divine love, listen to Radhamadhavam by M.S. Subbulakshmi, listen here on YouTube. (Warning: It’s 40 minutes of Sanskrit chanting, not everyone’s cup of tea. I love to practice yoga on this song sometimes…)

For your more mundane love song, listen to The Pleasure and The Pain by Lenny Kravitz (also in honour of Venus and Mars who are still quite entangled, but… Venus is finally slowly but surely separating from Mars; can’t wait till April 5th when Venus will be swimming in calmer waters).

Movie tip: The Worst Person in the World. In theatres now. Watch the trailer here. It doesn’t tell the divine love story of Radha and Krishna, but it does tell a story of love that involves pleasure and pain. I really enjoyed this movie. Maybe because I recognize myself a lot in the main character (though my ex husband should know that I never cheated on him, in case he reads this, which I don’t think he does, but still I want to state it in case he does). Maybe because the movie is so so so much more about ‘meaning in life’ than the trailer shows. Maybe because the movie is a perfect combination of romance and comedy. Maybe for other reasons. I laughed a lot watching this movie. I also cried (and I don’t often cry watching movies; but I cried during a scene that was oddly and painfully similar to an experience that I had in my life; and I’m always thankful when that happens, because it helps me to process…).

Coping from the Heart – Full Moon in Leo & the conjunction of Venus, Mars and Vesta

February 12, 2022

The Hindu goddess Durga, painted by Ravi Varma

See I never learned how to cope
The walls I had to climb
Leafs falling all the time
Even in the summer
See you never learned to let go
The paths you cannot control
Is weighing heavy on your soul

Lyrics: Never Learned How to Cope – Rimon

February and March 2022 – the Entanglement of Venus and Mars (and Ross and Rachel)

January 21, 2022

Ross and Rachel in Friends

Disclaimer: this article is interesting for those that have been through quite the love drama since autumn 2021 and / or for those that love to learn about astrology. In this article I discuss some technical aspects of astrology that will be only interesting to those that like to learn about astrology. This article may be boring for you if you’re not interested in the more technical / underlying mechanisms of astrology and if your love life is excellent. The topic of this article is the astrology and mythology of Venus and Mars, it mainly has to do with intense love, either in the more innocent form of Ross and Rachel from the television series Friends or possibly in a more toxic or dramatic shape (as the Venus and Mars of the Romans). This article is mainly relevant for February 2022 and March 2022.

Listen to the wind blow, watch the sun rise
Running in the shadows, damn your love, damn your lies

And if, you don’t love me now
You will never love me again
I can still hear you saying
You would never break the chain (Never break the chain)

Lyrics: The Chain – Fleetwood Mac

Listen to the song here on YouTube.

I feel like this Fleetwood Mac song perfectly tells the story of Venus and Mars of ancient and of recent; two lovers in a somewhat toxic relationship bound by an invisible unbreakable chain, just like the two people in The Devil tarot card (see below). The Devil in tarot is related to the sign Capricorn. And guess what… Venus and Mars are hanging out together in Capricorn in the upcoming weeks.

Musings on Venus retrograde in Capricorn (and the mythology of Inanna)

December 12, 2021

(Photographer unknown. Please let me know if you know who took this picture.)

“When Venus retrogrades we get to work with all that is in opposition to it. One of Venus’s many retrograde lessons is that the abuse of all things Venus is old and deep. Wide and ready to be acknowledged. This goddess is hungry for justice too long withheld from her.” Words by Chani Nicholas.

Venus is retrograde, for a period of about 6 weeks, every 18 months. When a planet is direct, it moves forward (from our viewpoint here on Earth). When a planet is retrograde, it moves backward (from our viewpoint here on Earth). Retrogrades are an optical illusion, just as the speed of a planet. Planets actually don’t change direction. But from our viewpoint here on Earth it sometimes seems like they do. The apparent direction and speed of a planet, as we perceive it, is dependent on the planet’s relative position to the Sun.
