A lovely alignment occurs in Pisces when the Moon finishes her cycle and starts a new one. When the Moon journeys through Pisces later this week, she meets up with Venus and Neptune after which she conjuncts the Sun. The New Moon occurs on March 13th 5.21 am ET / 11.21 am CET at 23 degrees Pisces, with Venus at 19 degrees Pisces and Neptune at 20 degrees Pisces.
This is a lovely New Moon, for connection and relaxation. Carve out time in your calendar for a relaxing ritual bath, intimate romantic night or for drinking wine with friends. Or if you want to go a step further; spirit work, tantra, LSD, the like. This New Moon is about your relationships. Your relationships to your friends / lovers / spirits / gods and goddesses, whoever or whatever comes to mind as you read the word relationships. How do you relate to that entity? Have your feelings or thoughts on this relationship changed since Pisces season started? Venus in her sign of exaltation, combust the Sun (meaning she’s super close to the Sun) and conjunct Neptune; Aphrodite is releasing old relationship baggage and gaining clarity where there was confusion.
This New Moon is a perfect one if you want to say a different ‘I do’. You don’t need to hold on to old patterns. You’re allowed to want something different. You may change your mind. Feelings eb and feelings flow. Relationships change. You change. Your experiences change. That’s all okay. If you’ve been feeling confused about a certain connection, take some time around this New Moon to meditate and journal. Do tarot, go on walks, take long showers. Whatever helps you to sort your thoughts and connect to your heart.
New Moons offer new starts. Sometimes good and fun ones, sometimes challenging ones. Sometimes big ones, sometimes small ones. Venus is undergoing a process of releasing and she’ll soon have a new start of her own too. The two feminine celestial bodies, the Moon and Venus, who are all about our emotional connections, are releasing something old and starting something new. They do so in Pisces, a sign that comes with keywords like ‘depth, ‘feeling’, ‘spirituality’ and ‘compassion’. Read this as an invitation to be loving and kind to yourself. To allow yourself ‘that’ something. This is a New Moon to let go. Not just let go of old, but to let go of restraints and shoulds. This is New Moon to allow yourself love, kindness and compassion. This New Moon is not about shallow love, it’s not about sex and pleasure. Though sex and pleasure can bring us to great heights and can come with deep and profound love. (And / Though this New Moon is a good one for tantric practices, sexual and/or non sexual tantric practices.) This New Moon is about divine love, about deep love, true love. Honest love. Not about lust, projection or excitement. This New Moon is about honest friendship and compassion. This is a New Moon to spend with your loved ones. To invest in a relationship / person that is dear to you.
Venus is exalted in Pisces, which means she’s honored and which means she’s capable in bringing about good stuff. Because she’s so close to the Sun, she’s invisible as she rises and sets on the horizon. We see the symbolism in our lives. Matters of love, connection, relating… enjoying Venusian pleasures like wine, good food, art, lovely company… Rona and lockdowns make it a challenge. The good stuff is still here, it’s just in our homes. The analogy for the collective also goes for our personal lives. Whatever goodness that Venus has to offer you; it’s intimate and personal. It might even be internal, the blessings of Venus don’t have to be external.
Boundaries dissolve with this New Moon plus Venus being conjunct Neptune. Whether it’s about boundaries between you and your subconscious, between you and your reason, between you and your heart, between you and people or between you and the spirit world. Neptune is here to dissolve these boundaries – something that Venus in Pisces is a good at anyway, with or without Neptune’s presence. Neptune is known to bring confusion and illusion. Neptune may come with dreams and hallucinations. On the contrary, Neptune may also take these away and bring clarity and insights. With the presence of a benefic and two luminaries, I expect to see more of the positive influences of Neptune instead of the negative influences. With this New Moon you may gain clarity and important insights on your relationship(s). With this New Moon you’re supported in deepening the connections that you’re seeking to deepen.

March 14th Venus conjunct Neptune
Just after the New Moon, on March 14th in Europe (March 13th in the US) the conjunction of Venus and Neptune will be exact. Neptune tends to dissolve boundaries. Boundaries between people. Boundaries between the mundane and the spiritual. Boundaries between the heart and the mind. Etcetera. With this conjunction, where supported in connecting intimately and deeply. This conjunction, following the New Moon, supports us in deepening the connections that we’ve come to realize that are important to us. Connections to the self, to someone else, to the divine; whatever / whoever it may be for you. Also: this is not a day for hard work and labor, this is a day for hanging out and chilling. Focus on your relationships, not so much on your to do list.
March 15th Mercury enters Pisces
Mercury entered Aquarius in January. Due to a retrograde period, Mercury has been in Aquarius for quite a long time (usually Mercury spends less than a month in a sign). Mercury in Aquarius was under the ruling of Saturn and conjunct Saturn (reception) and conjunct Jupiter (benefic help). Mercury in Pisces is in his detriment and fall (meaning that Mercury has trouble bringing about his best work while he’s in Pisces). Mercury in Pisces is under the ruling of Jupiter. Since Jupiter is in Aquarius, there’s no reception (Jupiter can’t see Mercury based on aspects, thus he can’t help Mercury out). In other words; Mercury is on his own, without a guide, in a foreign country where he doesn’t speak the language and doesn’t know the culture. It doesn’t mean he can’t get from A to B. It does mean that it asks for much effort, and probably making mistakes along the road, to get from A to B. Thus, Mercurial topics and efforts are going to be a little troublesome in the weeks ahead. Mercury in Pisces is good for writing and reading poetry. Mercury in Pisces is not that good for faxing.
Mercury is the ruler of Gemini. Mars is currently in Gemini. While Mercury was in Aquarius, Mercury was overall better equipped + Mercury was configured by trine with Mars (a harmonious aspect). Mercury in Pisces feels lost + Mercury in Pisces is configured by square with Mars in Gemini (a relationship that points to friction). With Mercury’s ingress into Pisces, we will see that not just Mercurial topics in Pisces become more challenging; Marsan topics in Gemini will also become more challenging. Mars in Gemini at his best is good in sharp thinking, fast with words and fast with handling tasks, winning intellectual battles, working through those emails. Mars in Gemini at his worst is a scattered mind and starting discussions and getting into arguments about nonsense, and also; starting ten things at once and not finishing one of them. Look at the house, in your chart, where Gemini is on, to see where most challenges of Mercury’s transit will occur. The challenges of Mercury in Pisces will be felt in Gemini as much as, and maybe even more than, in Pisces.
March 20th Sun enters Aries
When the Sun enters Aries, Spring season starts. Happy Spring Equinox! The Sun in Aries is exalted. This means that the Sun in Aries is honored. The Sun is the center of our solar system. The Sun brings warmth and light. In the birth chart, the Sun reflects the life force, vitality, spirit, ego and how and where we unpack our life’s purpose. Given the properties of the Sun (being in the center and being the most visible + giving warmth), the Sun does well in a sign where it’s hot and where he can put himself first. Thus, we see why the Sun does well in Aries. Aries, ruled by Mars, is a cardinal masculine fire sign. Aries goes fast and furious. Aries is the sprint runner of the zodiac. Athletic, a warrior. This ram starts running in the olympics before he finishes his training. Ruled by Mars, Aries is driven by desire, competition and passion.
The Sun is exalted in Aries. The Sun loves to be in Aries. This Sun needs to go his own way and do his own thing, not letting other people hold him back. The Sun in Libra, for example, has more trouble shining in the center. Libra is the sign opposite of Aries and the Sun’s fall. Libra is focused on other people. Libra is focused on relationships. The Sun in Libra shines by creating harmony and considering other people’s opinions and feelings. The Sun in Aries is given all space, by Mars, to do what the Sun does best: giving warmth, being in the center without concern, doing his own thing. The Sun in Aries shines by not compromising. The Sun in Libra has a tendency to dim his light, in order to create a harmonious blend with other lights. The Sun in Libra goes on group walks. The Sun in Aries sprints and heads for the gold medal, on his own. Ruled by Mars, the Sun in Aries is courageous.
This all, by the way, doesn’t mean that people with the Sun (or any other placement) in Aries are self-centered and courageous all the time. They can be as shy and anxious as the rest of us. Aries may also put his warrior skills to use in fighting for loved ones or standing up for human rights. Aries is the very first sign of the zodiac and tends to have a youthful and innocent charm; the fact that this sign is ruled by Mars, doesn’t make it a ‘bad sign’. One can’t give moral judgement to any of the signs; and certainly not to birth charts.
March 21st Venus enters Aries
One day after the Sun enters Aries, Venus leaves Pisces and enters Aries. While the Sun is exalted in Aries, Venus is in her detriment. Venus, the planet of relating, feels at home in Libra (the sign of the Sun’s fall). Venus brings about harmonious relationships. Venus brings about love. Aries, the ram that puts himself first, doesn’t offer much good equipment for relationship therapy sessions and mediatorship. Venus in Pisces was honored and strengthened, Venus in Aries feels challenged and disempowered. On top of that, she’s invisible. Venus is so close to the Sun, that she’s burnt by his light and warmth. We can’t see her rise in the morning and set in the evening, because she’s so close to the Sun.
Is there anything good that Venus in Aries has to offer us? Sure! Venus in Aries supports us in fighting for our loved ones. Venus in Aries is the goddess of love in warrior outfits. She stands up for our desires, for our passion, for our love. Venus in Aries isn’t a pushover. Venus in Pisces might be honored, but she also lacks boundaries. She doesn’t just give love, she gives herself too. In that regard, Venus in Aries may teach us a lesson in protecting oneself. Connecting with others is challenging thing for Venus in Aries. Sometimes, we become best at what is a great challenge at first. Practice makes perfect, right. Challenges can become gifts. Venus in Pisces her gifts can become her challenge. Venus in Aries her challenge can become her gift.
Venus in Aries might also help us in finding one night stands or in getting us some ‘wham bam thank you ma’am‘ sex. Long foreplay isn’t Venus in Aries her forte. You’ll have to wait a few weeks if you’re looking to wine and dine and have hours of sensual sex. Book your massage appointments when Venus in Taurus from April 14th – May 9th. Save your money for those weeks too, because Venus in Taurus loves shopping. The upcoming weeks, while Venus is in Aries, we’ll have to satisfy ourselves with quickies. Those are fun too!
March 24th Mercury in Pisces square Mars in Gemini
Mercury is in his fall and detriment in Pisces. On March 24th he squares Mars in Gemini. Mars in Gemini is under the ruling of Mercury (who feels more lost than found in Pisces). When Mercury squares Mars, Mercury will want to help out Mars in his endeavours in Gemini. However, Mercury will probably make things worse instead of offering a actual helping hand. Mercury is lost in the ocean, in Pisces, and he doesn’t really have clear directions and useful descriptions to offer Mars. Mercury in Pisces does poetry. Mars in Gemini can’t work with poetry at all. Thus, don’t schedule in paperwork, excel projects, technological projects, discussion groups, or stuff like that, on this day (and favorably some days before and after March 24th). Keep your drinks away from your computer. Stick to one task, don’t take on ten. Stay away from debates. If you’re passionate about a creative poetic project, this is your transit! If you want to write a novel or poems: go! Otherwise, and thus for most of us, my advice: one project, one task at a time, no coffee near your laptop, no discussions.
March 26th Venus Cazimi
Venus conjuncts the Sun, at 5 degrees Aries, on March 26th. In traditional astrology this is called ‘cazimi’. When a planet is combust the Sun – close to the Sun, under the Sun’s rays – the planet is weakened. However, when that planet passes through the heart of the Sun (from our viewpoint here on earth, they are exactly aligned), that planet becomes stronger for a short while. The Sun and Venus become one, so to speak; strengthening each other. Venus starts a new cycle on this day. She let’s go of her old baggage, finds new purpose and sets out on a new journey. Venus goes from being a morning star (rising in the morning before the Sun rises) to being an evening star (setting in the evening after the Sun sets). Venus as a morning star is bold, she actively pursues her desires. Venus as an evening star is a little less inclined to actively pursue her own desires; she’s more receptive.
You can see in your chart whether Venus is a morning or evening star by looking at her relative placement to the Sun. The horizon in your chart is marked by the ascendant – descendant line. The Sun rises at the ascendant, the Sun sets at the descendant, during the day. The Sun rises in the east and sets in the west. The same goes for Venus. Look for the Sun in your chart and look for Venus in your chart. Imagine the two moving through your chart clockwise. If they would start moving, from their relative fixed positions in your birth chart, which one would rise first? If it’s the Sun, then your Venus is an evening star. If it’s Venus, then your Venus is a morning star.
March 28th Full Moon in Libra
The Full Moon in Libra arrives on March 28th at 8 degrees Libra.
