Samantha is a Capricorn boss lady. Demanding, stubborn, self-sufficient and always right. She leads and doesn’t follow, except maybe in the bedroom. The archetype Capricorn is often described as hard working, disciplined, boring, in love with money, strict, practical and mature. However, once you get to know a Capricorn, you’ll discover that this archetype is actually not boring at all. Capricorns (Sun, Moon and rising) tend to have a good / dark sense of humor. Capricorns aren’t afraid of the occult and the dark, and they know all about power. Capricorns actually are very intuitive, as an earth sign this archetype is grounded but the tail of the sea-goat dips into intuitive waters. Ruled by Saturn this archetype is knowledgeable on life. At best, Capricorn expresses itself as knowledgable on life and dedicated to create societal structures that serve humanity. At worst this archetype expresses itself as supportive of patriarchy and capitalism.
The New Moon in Capricorn arrives on January 13th 12.00 am ET / 6.00 am CET at 23 degrees Capricorn. This is not an easy New Moon with easy fresh new starts. This New Moon applies to a conjunction with Pluto at 24 degrees Capricorn. The Sun will conjunct Pluto on January 24th. With the New Moon this conjunction is so tight already, we won’t be able to ignore it. Another transit that takes place on this New Moon day is the square between Mars in Taurus and Saturn in Aquarius; which is a challenging transit. This is is not a lighthearted New Moon. The days surrounding the New Moon are probably quite stressful for most of us. It’s not bad New Moon though. It’s the kind of New Moon that is experienced as stressful, but six months from now you will look back at these days and notice that some important shifts in your life started to take place. Seeds are planted with New Moons, the flowers (and sometimes thorns) show up months later. These days, go with what life throws at you and try to deal with it as best as possible. Leave the intention setting and conscious manifestation work for another New Moon.
Let’s bring the system down. Fuck patriarchy. Burn capitalism. This New Moon is conjunct Pluto. Pluto has been in Capricorn since 2008 and stays here until 2024. We’ve felt his influence strongly in 2020, as several conjunctions took place between Pluto and Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. However, Pluto’s presence in Capricorn has been visible since 2008. Capricorn is a sign that symbolizes structures in societies and the archetype of the father and authority; at least it symbolizes these things, among others, in mundane astrology for the human collective. Pluto is a planet that transforms. It transforms by death and decay, by purging. Since 2008 we’ve seen that capitalism, even though it may be a solid structure (Capricorn), doesn’t promise eternal growth (and certainly not wellbeing for all). Pluto is purging the toxicities of capitalism, one by one. Pluto is showing us the lingering diseases in our social structures and patriarchal societies. In the past year we’ve become well aware of the weak spots in modern western cultures; Saturn and Mars gave Pluto a helping hand.
With the Sun shining his light on Pluto, there’s an emphasis on the things we’ve lost in 2020. Sometimes this transit signifies secrets being revealed and/or seeing and understanding what was previously hidden. This transit might also signify some kind of rebirth. Where is Capricorn in your chart? What topics does that house relate to? What were the lessons of these past few years concerning the Capricorn part of your chart? And… What are the lessons for the human collective? Fuck patriarchy, that system isn’t working. We’re not done demolishing that system yet. Pluto has a few more years to go in Capricorn. So, what will that be about? What toxic stuff can we purge to make room for something new?
Mars square Saturn
As mentioned, Mars in Taurus squares Saturn in Aquarius on the day of the New Moon. This creates tension. Mars is a planet that likes to go fast and furious. Mars is passionate and often impatient. In Taurus, though, he does his best work with patience and diligence; Taurus knows that good things take time (a good lesson for Mars to learn). Saturn moves slow, with discipline and knows patience like no other. Mars is hot. Saturn is cold. Mars brings gasoline. Saturn builds concrete walls. These harsh energies don’t mix well. With Mars square Saturn we will experience conflicting energies. How and where this shows up in your life, all depends on your personal chart (look at the houses that Taurus and Aquarius are on, to get an idea). For the human collective this tension might show up in different ways. Taurus is concerned with safety, comfort and food. Aquarius is concerned with rules, laws and regulations, information and science. Certain groups of people might experience less safety, worry about food or feel like the roofs are pulled from their heads. It wouldn’t surprise me if January and February come with protests; people being concerned about their primary needs / agriculture (Taurus) protesting against laws, regulations and social injustice (Aquarius). The transit ‘Mars square Saturn’ is exact on the day of the New Moon; but this transit started on the 6th of January and lasts until Mars leaves Taurus and moves into Gemini early March.
Astrology forecast
January 14th Uranus stations direct, Venus trines Uranus & Sun conjunct Pluto
Just after the New Moon, when the Sun conjuncts Pluto, Uranus stations direct at 6 degrees of Taurus. Uranus is a planet that brings change and disruption. When planets station, either retrograde or direct, they are extra focused and potent. Uranus brings changes in the parts of our charts that contain Taurus, since 2018 and until 2026 when he’ll move into Gemini. (If you have the ascendant, midheaven or personal planets between 5-7 degrees of any of the fixed signs, this station of Uranus is more significant to you.) In mundane astrology, Taurus is related to food, agriculture, safety, housing, money, wealth, etc. With Mars co present in Uranus, I expect to see these Taurus topics showing up even more in the newspapers. Venus trines Uranus just before he stations direct, and that’s nice. Uranus brings change, change can be positive and negative. Mars’s co presence in Taurus is like putting gasoline on Uranus his fire. Venus helping Uranus out, while he stations, softens the blow a bit mid January. (Though Venus moves on quickly, so will her helping hand.)
January 17th / 18th Jupiter square Uranus
Just days after Uranus’s station, Jupiter and Uranus find themselves in an exact square. This one is quite intense. Even though Jupiter is named ‘the greater benefic’, I wouldn’t necessarily describe this transit as beneficial; it may be, but won’t be for everyone. Uranus brings change, disruption, revolution and upheaval. Uranus breaks the status quo; which can be experienced as good and bad. Change can be experienced as positive or negative. Jupiter brings growth, which often is a good thing (in life we usually rather experience growth than decay). Jupiter has the tendency to magnify what he touches. A square is a relationship that signifies friction. Jupiter will magnify Uranus his actions. Whatever Uranus brings about in the days surrounding the 17th/18th of January, positive or negative, Jupiter will magnify it.
January 19th Sun enters Aquarius
The Sun will illuminate the zodiacal sign Aquarius from January 19th until February 18th. The Sun will illuminate everything that happens in this sign. There’s actually a lot about to happen. Saturn, Jupiter and Mercury are already in Aquarius and Venus will join them soon. Mercury will be retrograde in Aquarius in the first half of February. I’ll give updates on all transits that will be happening in Aquarius as they happen. If you want to prepare for them, I suggest you join my workshops. A major reset will take place in the part of your chart that contains Aquarius, as all these planets (Mercury, Venus, Jupiter and Saturn) will be combust and conjunct the Sun. Whenever a planet combusts, they enter a new cycle. These four planets will all start new cycles and they will all do so in Aquarius. Plus, there will be a New Moon in Aquarius in February. In other words: new starts! And these new starts are stimulated by Mars and Uranus in Taurus. Again, if you want to prepare: sign up for my workshops.
The Sun is in his detriment in Aquarius. Aquarius is the sign opposite of Leo, which is the Sun’s home. The warm radiant Sun is on unfamiliar terrain in the distant and cold surroundings of Aquarius. It takes extra effort to bring warmth and light to the far end corners of the Solar system, where Saturn is the lord of Aquarius. However, when the Sun manages to shine through the ice covered glass, he illuminates the beautiful qualities of Aquarius. Aquarius is the humanitarian of the zodiac. This archetype is focused on the future and especially on building a better, more social and just world. When the Sun manages to shine brightly in Aquarius, we see a highly intelligent ego. This archetype has a talent for understanding complex systems (from mathematics to astrology) and innovating them from the inside out. Aquarius studies the box until it knows every corner; in order to be able to think outside the box. Aquarius can be detached and aloof, unique and creative.
January 20th Mars conjunct Uranus
Whatever Uranus wants to bring about in Taurus, will intensify when Mars conjuncts him. This conjunction has been building up ever since Mars entered Taurus earlier in January. Uranus is that planet that breaks through walls; with this transit it’s not just knocking down walls, it’s bombing walls. Mars brings in the bombs. Explosions are about to happen. Hold tight if you have the ascendant, midheaven or personal planets in between 5-7 degrees of the fixed signs; this transit is an intense one. As mentioned, Uranus brings about change. Taurus is the most solid sign of the zodiac, Taurus doesn’t like change. Whatever change that Uranus wants to bring about in Taurus, whether it’s in your personal chart and life or in the world in general, there’s some resistance to that. Mars, however, will give Uranus a helping hand. Mars is like heated iron, a heated sword separates anything. Together with Uranus, Mars will even be able to cut through a solid rock (Taurus). In a negative sense, the change may feel like a painful and sharp separation or like a big uncontrollable explosion. In a positive sense, the change might be finally taking that courageous step to freedom, or doing something passionately and liberating that’s totally out of your comfort zone or against societal or your own standards. This transit won’t be felt by everyone, it depends very much on the personal chart. I do however expect some turmoil in the world around the 20th of January (as if we haven’t had enough of that).
January 23rd Mars square Jupiter
Mars square Jupiter brings a burst of energy. In a positive sense: being extra motivated at work, having intense fun workouts, being passionately driven to establish something. In the negative sense: heated discussions about values / ethics / justice, exponential growth of aggression and violence. Both Mars and Jupiter are in fixed signs. The challenging thing with having this much heated energy in fixed signs, is that the energy has nowhere to go but in one fixed direction. In other words: focus makes or breaks this transit. If you manage to focus on what you want to direct this energy on (look at the houses that Taurus and Aquarius are on in your chart, to pick your topics), you may be able to work with this energy in a constructive way. It’s like driving a race car, be conscious of the power of the car and be focused on the road and you will get where you want to be in a fast and furious way. If you don’t pay attention, you might miss that roadblock in front of you.
January 23rd / 24th Sun conjunct Saturn
When the Sun conjuncts Saturn, in the Saturn ruled sign Aquarius, the world gets a little colder. This transit also illuminates what Saturn in Aquarius (a transit that will last until 2023) may be about for you. Saturn rules Aquarius, this transit is as much about Saturn as it is about Aquarius. Pay attention to insights and happenings that relate to the topics of the house that Aquarius is on in your chart, it might give you some clues what to expect for the upcoming two years. As mentioned, this transit is a little cold; that’s because Saturn is about responsibility, hard work, discipline and setting boundaries.
January 26th Sun square Uranus
As you might have noticed by now, Uranus is getting some attention this year. When the Sun squares Uranus, heat, clarity and insight are provided. The square is an aspect that comes with friction. The Sun brings illumination through friction. Friction isn’t always a bad thing. This transit might bring some clarity, via friction, as to what Uranus in Taurus is about for you. It all depends on your personal chart, for some it will be easy breezy. Again, this transit is most noteworthy for those that have the ascendant, midheaven and/or personal planets in between 5-7 degrees of any of the fixed signs.
