New Moon in Aries 24-03

March 22, 2020

Apart from the heavy astrology we have had so far in 2020 (Lunar eclipse on the Cancer – Capricorn axis, Saturn x Pluto conjunction in Capricorn, Mercury retrograde, Mars in Capricorn) and the heavy astrology that is about to come (Saturn x Mars conjunction very soon and the fact that in the month of May Saturn, Jupiter and Venus station retrograde, and more heavy stuff coming later in 2020), luckily there is also good stuff! In my previous article I wrote all about the astrology on the current pandemic. The crisis hits u all. We are forced into something. There is a restructuring going on and we are just at the start of it. However, that doesn’t mean it’s all bad. It’s not all bad and  war and sorrow up in the heavens above. It’s not all bad and war and sorrow on earth below. So let’s focus on that. Let’s make use of what’s here to serve us! I want to shine light on the positive in this piece of writing.

Let’s begin with some current planetary positions. First of all: the Sun is in Aries. The Sun is supporting us to be courageous. Venus is in Taurus asking us to be abundantly in love. These two are super powerful now and in the upcoming few days. Tap into it. Soak up the courage and the love. Build a reservoir for it in your heart. Store it into every cell of your body. So you can make use of it later; we probably all need it. So you can serve yourself, humankind and Mother Earth.

The Sun moved into Aries just before this weekend. This means the astrological new year has started! Not just Aries season has started; Spring has started! Winter is over. Happy Spring! The Sun in Aries is exalted. It shines bright and strong. It warms the cold damp earth so that seeds can pop open into sprouts. This is the season where new life is born. Aries is the cardinal fire sign and is all about fresh starts. Aries has courage, youthfulness and bursts of energy. The Sun pours it into sprouts, young grasses, and all baby life on earth to give it that headstart. The Sun in Aries can bring us courage and energy. The Sun in Aries asks us to take leaps of faith in order for us to shine. Aries is the risk taker. Aries is the one that starts the job before having the degree. Aries is the one that goes for it, starts climbing the wall and starts only worrying about getting bruised along the way. Sometimes Aries fails. Not every leap of faith turns into a success. But, Aries is also the one that is known for finishing first. And finishing with charm. We need this energy now. In a crisis we need Aries people. People that act immediately. Aries are the first knights send into war. In war they take the first hits. They go in with incomplete armor, young as they are. Not fully trained and skilled maybe. But they go in anyway. They are our heroes now. Like the healthcare workers that are giving there everything now while not having enough masks and not knowing exactly what they are getting into. But they do it anyway.

Later in the year other zodiac signs will pop up and take over from Aries. Taurus trying to stabilize the current situation but spread the love of Venus. Gemini trying to spread knowledge and information serving society and creating new networks of social connection. Cancer making use of those networks and supporting emotional bonds and love between humans. Leo supporting the most critical soldiers giving them a platform, voice and supply of energy and goods. Virgo serving the world and doing practical damage control  and healing work. Libra remembering us of equality and human rights, using Venus her power for peace in the world. Scorpio supporting us in transformation, grief and dealing with loss and death; acknowledging hurt and making peace with our suffering. Sagittarius teaching us important life lessons and showing us that good and bad are two sides of the same coin. Capricorn stepping in, cleaning up the messes, taking responsibility and starting with building new foundations. Aquarius the humanitarian building further on those foundations and finding creative ways to serve the vulnerable, hurt and Mother Earth. And last Pisces, who wants to spread Jupiter’s luck all over humankind and our planet, serving each and every soul and bringing healing and connection. And then we enter Spring 2021 and Aries is there to start something new again. This is not a forecast I’m giving. You can’t do predictive astrology on just Sun sign analogies. But I like this story. I like the moral of it. I hope it gives you the trust that there is more to life than what we see and know at the moment. We are in the midst of a story. We don’t know what future chapters hold. But there are always more chapters. And the ancient archetypes are there, always. They are older than humankind. They hold wisdom. Let’s try to tap into that wisdom.

Ok, back to current astrology. Venus is in Taurus at the moment. She’s so happy there. Venus in Taurus is all about love and care. We need this energy now. Love yourself, humankind, Mother Earth. Venus in Taurus wants you to make abundantly healthy salads and beautiful chocolate treats. She wants you to dance and laugh. Even if you are locked in at home. So you can’t go out on a date? Date yourself! Write a love letter. Be creative. So your favorite restaurant is closed? Make yourself your favorite food and indulge in your favorite red wine. So you can’t go to the club? Make your own private disco party. Venus in Taurus is creative. She makes use of the resources she has. And she’s fucking good at it. Venus in Taurus can make art out of anything. Sure, she likes shiny crystals; but dusty rocks are beautiful too. Venus in Taurus supports our creative and nurturing skills and talents and reminds us that life is there to be enjoyed. If you and your loved ones are healthy, please celebrate that. Venus in Taurus is not just good at self-care. She’s also good at attending to other people’s needs. Support your local flower business by buying flowers; and at the same time you bring Venus energy into your home and you will make being ‘locked up’ a little bit more pleasant. Share poetry with friends to support their souls. Phone your mom and ask her how she’s doing. Take care of your plants, talk to them. If you aren’t living alone and are locked up with someone else: give each other hugs and massages. Such things are Venus in Taurus acts too. It’s not all about self-pleasure huh! Venus in Taurus enjoys giving blowjobs often more than masturbation; because remember we are talking about the Goddess Aphrodite in an feminine earth sign.

Saturn just moved into Aquarius (today on March 22nd around 6am). I wrote horoscopes on that! Check it out. In these horoscopes you will read what Saturn in Aquarius means for you in the upcoming three years. In general: Saturn in Aquarius wants us to restructure the rules, regulations and boundaries that are not in the best interest of all of life (human and other kind). Saturn in Aquarius asks us to become better human beings; to fucking grow up. Growing is painful. It is never easy. My advice: surrender to Saturn’s call, go into the growing pains and get to work. How and where to do that? Read your horoscope. You’re welcome.

Ok, let’s focus on the upcoming Lunar cycle. Here are the most important events:

24-03 New Moon in Aries 10.28 Amsterdam/ CET time
30-03 Mars in Aquarius & 31-03 Mars x Saturn conjunction
03-04 Venus in Gemini
04-04 Jupiter x Pluto conjunction (and Venus trine Saturn)
08-04 Full Moon in Libra 04.35 Amsterdam / CEST time
11-04 Mercury Aries
19-04 Sun Taurus
23-04 New Moon Taurus 04.25 Amsterdam / CEST time

This time I will only give a preview of the first half of the Lunar cycle, from the New to the Full Moon. Because honestly, there is enough to say about that! And, also, I’m lacking time at the moment. So, I will get back to you when the Full Moon in Libra approaches. For now, let’s look at the upcoming two weeks or so.

24-03 New Moon in Aries

The New Moon in Aries is the first New Moon of the astrological new year. A new season has started, spring has arrived. There is some good astrology this day! Venus is still in Taurus. Saturn is in Aquarius and not in the same sign as Mars anymore, which gives a bit of relief (not for long, because Mars will follow Saturn into Aquarius soon). Venus and Jupiter are in a trine relationship now, which means they are boosting each other. Which is good, because Venus likes to bring love and Jupiter likes to bring luck. The Sun in Aries is strong. Jupiter and Pallas are making sextiles with the Sun and Moon, which means they are supporting each other. All good stuff!

When the Moon is new, she lacks in energy. She’s completely absorbed in the light of the Sun. However, just seconds after the conjunction, the Moon starts growing again and starts building up energy again. This New Moon, contrary to the last one, is really good for setting new intentions. Because there is supportive energy of Jupiter and Pallas and indirectly Venus. Next to that, Aries is all about new starts and courage.

With the current dynamics in the world it however might seem difficult to set new intentions or start new things. A lot of people are being asked to slow down now. A lot of people are also faced with uncertainty. We don’t always need to set new intentions. We don’t always need to do better, grow, etc. That’s capitalism talking. I know it’s hard to ignore. But we don’t always need to perform or perfect ourselves. Often we are perfect just the way we are. When we are faced with challenges in life, doing our best is certainly good enough.

However, if you do find that you want to set intentions. Make use of this astrology. If there is something that you have been wanting to do but just didn’t have the courage for, now is your time. This pandemic also shows us that life is vulnerable and never completely in our control. This crisis points out exactly what is and is not important in life. So, go after what’s important to you, true Aries style. Be courageous and follow your dreams.

So, this new Moon is good for setting intentions. It’s a good new Moon for new undertakings and leaps of faith. It’s also a good new Moon to plant seeds in your garden and celebrate the start of Spring. Throw some new paint on your living room wall. Ask that person you secretly have a crush on out on a Zoom date. Etcetera.

One last interesting notion. The New Moon takes place almost conjunct Chiron. Chiron in Greek mythology is known as the wounded healer. The one that traveled all the world looking for the cure to heal his own wound. During his travels he learned all about medicine and healing crafts; he became the most gifted healer ever known (however not able to heal his own wound). Our Earth is wounded now. We humankind are wounded now. The Moon is exactly conjunct Chiron some point on this Tuesday. The Sun x Moon x Chiron conjunction is almost exact. So, this new Moon also draws our attention to our wounds. Well, honestly, we can’t ignore them now. We are, just like Chiron, desperately looking for cures. In astrology, Chiron in our charts points to where we can become the wounded healer. Often Chiron points to our pains. If we are willing to endure and if we are willing to do the work needed, if we are willing to learn, we can become skilled at helping others heal from the wounds that were once our own. This new Moon draws attention to our wounds. But she also tells us that, if we are motivated and courageous, we can become healers too.

30-03 & 31-03 Mars in Aquarius & Mars x Saturn conjunction

For the biggest parts of February and March, Mars and Saturn were hanging out in Capricorn together. On the 22nd Saturn entered Aquarius. The two malefics not being in the same sign anymore from 22 – 30 March may offer a bit of relief. On 30-03 Mars follows Saturn and moves into Aquarius. Mars moves much faster than Saturn and so not much later he catches up on him and on 31-03 there is a conjunction.

Mars is exalted in Capricorn, that means he’s strong there. In Aquarius he’s still strong, but a little less. I hope the transition of Mars into Aquarius offers a bit of relief. In a positive way Mars can bring passion, action, motivation and energy. In a negative way Mars brings too much heat, inflammation and separation. Aquarius is an air sign. Air is cooling. I think it’s not that bad if Mars catches a fresh breeze of air; he has grown strong enough in Capricorn. Mars his passion in Capricorn might have supported us in building courage and pursuing certain endeavors. Mars in Capricorn has also been supportive of anger, fights, racism etc. So it might not be too bad that Mars cools down a bit.

When Mars moves into Aquarius he will bring energy, passion and strive into the areas of our life / houses in our birth charts where Aquarius is placed. So you might feel like you all of a sudden have a new found energy for something. However, on 31-03 Mars is conjunct Saturn. Saturn is all about slowing down. Saturn is also about separation; but separation by concrete walls while Mars is about separation by fire. Or another analogy: driving a car. Mars is about pushing in the gas as much as possible. He wants to go fast! Saturn is the responsible Lord of Karma; he pushes the break! So, at the end of March we may feel these two opposing energies in our lives (especially in the part of our chart that contains Aquarius). It will be like you want to hit gas, but it will feel like someone else hits the breaks. Or: Saturn is the walls of your apartment and Mars is you getting crazy and overheated about being locked inside. Not everyone will experience it that way, it is just an analogy for energy dynamics. Depending on your chart you will experience the two opposing forces it in a certain area of life. Either way: it’s an incredibly frustrating mix of energies. We will probably see this on a wider scale too or global level too: wanting to go at something but something else just not working along and holding back. Having two malefics conjunct each other is never fun. This will not be as bad as the Saturn x Pluto conjunction. It’s totally different. But Mars and Saturn meeting up? Those two Gods don’t know how to communicate with each other…

When the two separate and Mars moves on and leaves Saturn behind, things will lighten up a bit. You will feel less hold back and your energy has more space to move. Saturn will be left behind to do the reconstructing work in the part of your chart that contains Aquarius. On a global level Saturn has the immense task to reconstruct societies. In the meantime Mars can move on fast and wide and bring passion, fire, courage and maybe some anger motivating us to change things up. Anger isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Anger comes up when we feel there is injustice done to us or someone else. Anger can motivate us to do good in the world. When anger is felt and channeled in the right way, it can do incredibly healing work. Mars might be described as the God of War and might often inflict pain. At the same time: Mars is the soldier we need for our protection. Mars is the one that also spices up our sex life. Mars is the one that hunts for food and keeps us alive. Mars is all about survival. And right now the human race is confronted with the fact that we still need to care about survival. Survival isn’t a given for any species on earth; we are no different. So what I’m trying to say is that… even though I write about good and bad or benefic and malefic planets; it’s not really as black and white as it seems at first sight. Mars might bring pain into our lives. Mars is also the one that makes sure we fight for our lives and don’t give up.

03-04 Venus in Gemini

Venus moves from Taurus into Gemini. Venus is a fast moving planet. She stays about a month in each sign. However, in May Venus will station retrograde. So, when she’s almost out of Gemini she suddenly ‘turns around’ and starts moving backwards. This means that instead of spending a month in Gemini, she will be there for four months! This is quite interesting. And I want to write horoscopes on that. So I’m not writing to much on this topic in this piece of writing; there is no point in repeating myself (I already do that too much anyway). But to give you a quick notion of what this might mean: Gemini is the social butterfly of the zodiac and likes to collect and disperse information between people. Venus is all about love, pleasure and growth. Venus in Gemini brings about love and pleasure by taking on the role of the social butterfly. Venus in Gemini is the one that goes on Tinder, the one that has several one night stands, the one that has WhatsApp conversations going with three different lovers. It’s also the Venus that cares for the world by sharing her knowledge and information. By putting in her best effort to bring what’s needed to where it’s needed in order to grow and sustain love. She wants to foster loving conversations between people. On a global level, Venus in Gemini can help communication between governments, institutions, scientists etc. On an individual level, Venus in Gemini can bring about good or new conversations between people, loved ones, lovers. It can also bring newness and sudden changes in love; after all Gemini is a mutable sign. Retrogrades bring up weird shit, stuff from the past and or excesses of some kind. It might make those topics of Venus in Gemini more difficult. It might also bring stuff up from the past related to earlier moments when Venus was in Gemini.

04-04 Jupiter x Pluto conjunction (and Venus trine Saturn)

Jupiter is the philosopher. Jupiter wants to bring wisdom into the world. He also wants to travel, to go far and wide. Jupiter is all about expansions, in the physical and mental realms. Pluto brings extremes. Pluto lives in the Underworld and brings back up that what was hidden. Pluto reminds of us hidden traumas. Pluto also reminds us that the stuff we thought was important is not that important at all. Pluto is the planet that confronts us with death and reminds us that capitalism sucks and new shoes aren’t that important at all. This Lord of the Underworld teaches us lessons, not in a tender way. On April fourth Jupiter and Pluto make an exact conjunction, for the first of three times in 2020. I’m pretty sure something important will come to light during this time. Because both planets are about bringing something into the light. Pluto is about bringing the darkest stuff into light. Jupiter is all about sharing knowledge and bringing information to light. When Pluto and Jupiter are conjunct telescopes are invented and breakthroughs in sciences happen. In individual lives this means that we might be able to place certain memories or experiences in a new perspective or gain insight into something we have been questioning and that has been bothering us. Like I wrote in my previous article. When Jupiter and Pluto are conjunct: Jupiter goes into the Underworld to contemplate and resurfaces with knowledge that was previously hidden. Whether we listen to Jupiter and what we do with that knowledge is up to us.

Another thing that happens on this day: Venus makes a trine to Saturn. This is helpful for the things that Saturn wants to bring about in the part of our chart that contains Aquarius (see the horoscopes I’ve written on that for more info). You might experience a pleasant boost in relation to that topic on this day.

On April 8th the Full Moon in Libra will take place. I will be back soon with more info on that.

Much Love! X Maud
