The Full Moon arrives on August 3rd at 05.59 pm CEST at 11 degrees Aquarius. The Sun is at home in the warmth of Leo. The Full Moon will be opposite of the Sun in the cold of Aquarius. Leo and Aquarius are two sides of the same coin. Both are strong individuals, in their very own ways.
Leo is expressive and charismatic. The Lion roars and performs. Leo likes to be adored and acknowledged for the power and the beauty that Leo possesses. The Lion puts himself in the center and is the leader in the savannah. Leo is ruled by the Sun, the strongest luminary and the star that all planets travel around. Aquarius is ruled by Saturn, the planet that is furthest away (of all planets visible for the naked eyes). While the Lion puts himself on stage and likes to be adored, the Water Bearer couldn’t care less about adoration and puts herself outside the group. Leo is creative, passionate and warm. Aquarius is a revolutionizer, detached and cold. The Water Bearer is the humanitarian of the zodiac; a lover of humans while standing apart from the group. The Water Bearer is the odd one; we recognize the Aquarians in society often by their tattoo’s, funky clothing, unique interests, metaphysical wanderings and/or rebellion and activism. The courage of the Water Bearer is found in daring to stand apart, either by choice or nature. Aquarius doesn’t want to suit the masses. The Water Bearer carries gallons of love and is the one that serves humanity by activism and serving communities and good causes; while at the same time feeling distant from or actively distancing herself from those communities.
The Leo – Aquarius axis is all about the need for personal self-expression and/versus the need to serve the collective. The two signs are different sides of the same coin. Every sign is part of a polarity. Leo and Aquarius being one polarity. With every Full Moon a polarity is highlighted. With every Full Moon we have the chance to explore two archetypes in ourselves. With this Full Moon these archetypes are the Lion and the Water Bearer.
Leo and Aquarius, two sides of the same coin. Both aren’t part of the herd. Leo is far to fierce. Leo wants to fully enjoy life and bathe in sunlight. Leo doesn’t want beautiful moments to pass by because ‘the Lion is blindly walking around in sheep’s clothing’. Lions are rulers, they have royal blood: they don’t follow. The Lion however does like to receive the herd’s attention; being royal and all. Just like Leo, Aquarius isn’t a sheep. Aquarius oversees the herd and cares for it, while feeling far too futuristic or weird to be part of it. Not being part of the herd isn’t easy. Aquarius – like Saturn the ruler of this sign who is alone in the out far cold corners where the Sun’s light barely reaches – often feels alone. Both Leo and Aquarius are true individuals; they stand alone in their own ways.
No matter what your personal placements are, this Full Moon is about your uniqueness and the ways in which you stand apart. How do you stand apart? Do you do so comfortably or not so comfortably? Where do you lead? How do you rebel? Where do you shine? Where do you detach? Where is Leo in your chart and where is the Lion inside you? Where is Aquarius in your chart and where is the Water Bearer inside you?
The Full Moon is squared by Uranus. Uranus is the planet of upheaval, breakthroughs, changes, rebellion and revolution. Uranus likes to disrupt the status quo. The topics in your life that are ruled by the fixed signs – in other words: the parts (houses) of your chart that contain Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius – might be in for some sudden events/changes/revelations in the days surrounding the Full Moon. This goes especially if you have personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn) or points (ascendant and midheaven) in between 7-14 degrees of these signs.
Deus ex machina
Do you believe in God? In Gods and Goddesses?
It seems like we are living in a Greek tragedy. Power plays, pandemics, what else can we add to create more drama in our modern world? The Greeks are known for their tragedies. Sometimes so painful and complicated that there seems to be no way out of misery. Deus ex machina – the plot twist – the sudden appearance of God, saving humanity out of tragic circumstances. That was the solution the Greek writers used. But where is God? Some say he is dead…
What way is forward? Where do we go now? I would want to look at Aquarius and Leo. Specifically Aquarius. The futuristic Water Bearer feels love for humanity; is able to detach and stay objective in the midst of crisis; is known to revolutionise systems and dares to rebel. We need Aquarius. We need all Aquarians to rise in this world. At the end of 2020 there will be a grand conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn at 1 degrees Aquarius. In December we will enter a new 200 year Jupiter-Saturn cycle. In the next 200 years these two planets will conjoin in air signs. We are now finishing a 200 year cycle of conjunctions in earth signs.
To quote Austin Coppock on the shift from the Earth era to the Air era: “We have been in the confused no-man’s land between elemental epochs since the early 80’s. Since that time, we have experienced a mixture of the power-patterns of the two eras. Earth prioritizes control of land, resources, and inclines toward centralization and static fortification. Air prioritizes control of information, is mobile, multi-polar, contradictory, and favors the network over the hierarchy. The growing relevance of the Air pattern since the early 80’s is quite clear, and the December 2020 Jupiter-Saturn conjunction in an Air sign, Aquarius, crowns it. On a shorter timescale, the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction in Aquarius re-centers the collective focus on the problems of the present and oncoming future. Most of those being the price of the current phase of digital capitalism, such as environmental damage, social and economic inequality, the incoming wave of unemployment, digital surveillance, and the unsustainable boom-and-bust of markets.”
Deus ex machina… Who will save us? God? Are we God?
The Water Bearer is a leader that doesn’t want to lead; but somehow does. Aquarius votes progressive and with the greater good in my mind; Aquarius wants to serve the collective. We need more Aquarius. Supported by Leo. Leo reminds Aquarius that life is meant to be enjoyed too. Leo brings warmth into the cold air environment of Aquarius. Leo brings the passion that we need to feel alive. Leo reminds us that we are humans, no detached Aquarian robots. We need warmth; we feel deeply; we need passion, lust and creativity. Society calls for the strengthening of Aquarians. Which automatically means we also need to tap into our inner Lions.
Astrology forecast
Here are the upcoming transits between the Full Moon and New Moon:
August 4th 3.05 pm CEST Mars square Jupiter
August 5th 5.31 am CEST Mercury enters Leo
August 7th 5.21 pm CEST Venus enters Cancer
August 13th 9:14 am CEST Mars square Pluto
August 15th 4.26 pm CEST Uranus stations retrograde at 10 degrees Taurus
August 19th 4.41 am CEST New Moon in Leo
August 4th 3.05 pm CEST Mars square Jupiter
This aspect can bring the urgency to take risks and make bold moves. Jupiter likes to go out, Mars gives him that push. It’s not a friendly push though. And with Jupiter retrograde and in his fall in Capricorn, while Mars is still direct in is home in Aries… Please don’t go to the casino on this day.
August 5th 5.31 am CEST Mercury enters Leo
Mercury moves out of Cancer and into Leo. Mercury moves out of the square with Mars. It will feel like a relief for all of us. It will especially feel like a relief to those of you who have been having issues and frustrations in communications with others or have been battling inner anger or frustrations. The transit of Mercury into Leo will also feel like a relief for the Virgo and Gemini risings; your ruler is not being bothered by Mars anymore and feels more stable and secure under the ruling of the Sun who is strong at home in Leo too. While Mercury was in Cancer he was under the ruling of the Moon; meaning he had to work with her ebbs and flows and emotional currents. Mercury co-present with the Sun in Leo will feel empowering for Virgo and Gemini risings. It’s empowering for all of us, by the way. In the next few weeks Mercury and the Sun will support us in speaking for ourselves. We are supported in (re)claiming ownership; especially concerning topics under the house that contains Leo in your chart.
August 7th 5.21 pm CEST Venus enters Cancer
Venus was in Gemini for four months; way longer than usual due to a retrograde period. I’m personally in for a change of mood, Venus in Gemini has been pushing me to connect with others more than my Moon can handle. Also, Venus in Gemini was in a square with Neptune. While Venus is in Cancer she’s in a trine with Neptune. This means that unclarities in relationships that were formed during Venus her time in Gemini (especially in April, May and beginning of June) might finally get dissolved if they have not been dissolved in the last few weeks. On the other hand; Venus in Cancer will come into hard aspect with Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn and Mars in Aries. So yours truly Taurus rising is also bracing for impact.
Venus is a planet of connection and relation. Venus shows us how we connect and relate to others, she can also show us how we connect and relate to environments and situations. Venus in Gemini is extraverted. She connects with multiple people, is flirtatious and skilled at networking. Venus in Cancer is more introverted. She connects on a deep emotional level and seeks security in her connections. Cancer wants to create comfort, safe places, a home. In all turmoil of 2020 Venus in Cancer will bring on the question: how do I relate to all of this and how can I find a sense of safety in all of this?
I’m personally looking forward to the change of mood that will come when Venus will move into Cancer. That is because I’m personally longing for ‘sinking into myself’ a bit. However, the more Venus progresses in Cancer the stronger the hard aspects with the malefic planets will become. I’m not looking forward to that! End of August and beginning of September Venus will be hit by opposition by Pluto and Saturn and by square by Mars. Whatever Venus in Cancer wants to bring about in your life (look at the house Cancer is on to get an idea of the topics): Saturn will slow her down and Mars will frustrate her. The safety and the emotional bonding that we will want to create, will be met with blockages and strife. Which is not to say that Venus, or we, can’t succeed. It will just take some extra effort.
August 13th 9:14 am CEST Mars square Pluto
Power struggles might be highlighted today and in the days surrounding 13/08. Whatever your passion, motivation or energy is aimed at, it might be that you first need to sort through some unresolved issues, pain, trauma or other kinds of darkness, before you can do that thing that you want to do. Good chance we will see see power struggles on the world stage too. This aspect between Mars and Pluto will happen a few more times in the next few months actually. This aspect is in a more soft manner present throughout the rest of 2020; but when the aspects are exact the Mars – Pluto vibes are highlighted. So, this is the first time there is a square between Mars in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn, more will follow.
August 15th 4.26 pm CEST Uranus stations retrograde at 10 degrees Taurus
Uranus stations retrograde at 10 degrees Taurus and will move all the way back to 6 degrees Taurus. Uranus will station direct again at the start of 2021. If you have any personal planets or points between 6-10 degrees of of a fixed sign (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius), Uranus will hit it between now and the end of the year. Especially if your ascendant is on 6-10 degrees Taurus: you are in for another looping in the rollercoaster that you have been riding since 2018.
In 2021 Uranus will move from 6 degrees Taurus to 14 degrees Taurus and then again retrograde to 10 degrees Taurus. So if you are someone with planets and / or points in between 6-9 degrees Taurus (which Uranus has already hit several times): Uranus will hit them twice more between now and April 2021. If you have planets and / or points between 0-6 degrees of fixed signs: those have survived the worst. If you have planets and / or points in 10-30 degrees of fixed signs: they will be hit between 2021-2026.
Uranus brings upheaval, change and disruption. Uranus can make you break through walls. Or he just breaks down the walls for you. Uranus can revolutionise your life. Which can be exciting and terrifying at the same time.
August 16th & 17th Mercury conjunct Sun in Leo – trine Mars in Aries
The Mercury cazimi (Mercury enters the heart of the Sun) takes place just before the Sun and Mars make a perfect trine. Mercury in Leo in the heart of the Sun boosts self-expression through communication and supports creative thinking. This transit is supportive of finding and expressing your own voice. The trine with Mars gives extra passion and motivation. If you want to get some work done on a project, especially if it involves creativity or advertising: these are your days! Apart from work, this Mercury – Sun – Mars relationship is supportive of undertaking action that’s truthful and comes from the heart and a balanced mind. Is there something that feels right and true to you – something from the soul – but that you have not been daring to pursue? Mars is here to give you the courage to finally do it.
